Director of Manufacturing & Machining Operations

Los Angeles, CAFull-timeMarch 1, 2025

About the Role

Sorian Aerospace is building next-generation aircraft, and precision manufacturing is at the core of that mission. We are looking for a Director of Manufacturing & Machining Operations to lead the production of mission-critical aircraft components, ensuring efficiency, iteration speed, and the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate understands the distinct requirements of pre-production phases, including the development of test flight articles and prototypes, as well as the demands of full-scale production runs. You should have experience managing the unique challenges each phase presents—whether it's the flexibility and rapid iteration needed for development prototypes or the precision and consistency required for production runs. This position reports directly to the CEO and is key to ensuring that our manufacturing operations are optimized for both efficiency, iteration and quality. If you have a history of success in aerospace manufacturing, we invite you to apply. Note: Due to the sensitive nature of our work, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee all manufacturing and machining operations, ensuring efficiency and quality
  • Manage pre-production, prototype fabrication, and production-scale manufacturing
  • Establish and refine quality control processes to meet aerospace standards
  • Drive rapid iteration cycles for early-stage development while ensuring manufacturability at scale
  • Implement and optimize production workflows, from test articles to full-scale manufacturing
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing manufacturing and machining team

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience in aerospace manufacturing, machining, and production
  • Expertise in working with aerospace-grade materials and advanced machining techniques
  • Strong background in both rapid prototyping and production-scale manufacturing
  • Deep understanding of quality control systems, precision tolerances, and certification requirements
  • Proven ability to build and scale manufacturing operations for complex aerospace components
  • Experience optimizing production processes for both speed and repeatability

Who You Are

  • A hands-on leader who understands manufacturing from the shop floor to the executive level
  • Comfortable working in a high-iteration, rapid-development environment
  • Obsessed with efficiency—always looking for ways to optimize and accelerate production
  • Relentless about quality and precision—understands that manufacturing is only as good as its weakest process
  • Thrives in a high-pressure, high-accountability culture where execution matters
